User :   Hi, I am a 42 year old female...5 weeks ago I had sex and was on the pill a few weeks or so later I took a HPT which came back negative..but then I took (being a bit obsessive) I took 5 or 6 more all negative, then took a blood test which was negative as well..The positive was with an EPT other hpts have come up positive, my doctor said it could have been faulty and put me on depo a week ago today. Before the depo I fooled around with OPKS and it was negative..after depo I have had 7 positive opks in a row and not sure why and I did take another hpt, negative..mind you my last sexual encounter was 5 weeks ago so HPT would show. Why am I getting positive LH surges after depo?? for 7 days now? Not sure what to think of it
Doctor :   Hi here
Doctor :   let me read your query
Doctor :   please give me a few minutes
User :   I meant to say that my hpt came back positive a few weeks ago not negative..but all subqsequent test negative...including blood
User :   ok
User :   I havent had my period since beginning of January either...not sure why but still dont have it and we are in March..
Doctor :   what do u mean by OPKS , sorry, could not get the nomenclature right ?
User :   I am sorry...ovulation predictor kit...for LH surges...
Doctor :   oh ok,
Doctor :   have u had any ultrasounds any time ?
User :   no i have not had any doctor said that i am not pregnant...i have had negative hpts for 2 weeks now and a negative blood test as well...surges didnt start till depo shot was given
User :   my FSH is elevated as well from what I have been i dont know what that means...
Doctor :   persistantly elevated LH and FSH is a sign of menopause
User :   ahhh well maybe thats what it is..i am at that age i know...
Doctor :   but if the surges were happening regularly, and everything was ok, you should have had proper periods
User :   I have not had proper periods...havent had one since beginning of January and before that all i did was spot every month or not at all...
Doctor :   in that case, this seems to be menopausal symptoms mostly
User :   ok I just want to make sure that its nothing else but I will call my doc and maybe get some tests done to be sure whats going on..
Doctor :   there is nothing else that can present in this pattern
User :   Thank you for your time and I appreciate it...i have not had normal periods for a one is january seemed normal but others have not been, not since last march 2010
Doctor :   you are most welcome
Doctor :   take care and have a good day
User :   you too thanks
