User :   I am 63+ male. My ldl=145, hdl=43, vldl=22, total cholesterol=210, triglyceride=69, total cholesterol/hdl ratio=4.9, I take telsartan40 1tablet & atorva10mg 1 tablet daily. My bp is 120/79. How risky my health condition is?
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   I am
Doctor :   The above lab parameters are slightly on the higher side
Doctor :   The BP is adequately controlled with Telsartan
Doctor :   However LDL should be less than 100mg/dl preferably less than 70mg/dl, it is high
Doctor :   Total Cholesterol can be controlled to less than 170mg/dl
Doctor :   I would suggest a review of your cholesterol medication with your doctor, Atorva can be increased in divided doses
Doctor :   Are you with me?
User :   Yes, I followed. My ldl was 106 in feb10, but perhaps due 2 quitting of morn walk from august to december it rose to that level of 145 in dec10
User :   now i am regularly walking at a rate of 6km/hr for 30 mins daily
User :   and stopped eating fries etc, instead switched 2 only fruits in brk fst
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   30 minutes , two times a day is good
User :   Now what is ur advice?
Doctor :   I suggest to get repeat Lipid profile after one month and review the results
Doctor :   with the exercise and diet changes
Doctor :   if no helping medications can be increased in doses
User :   I cud not undrstnd last para
User :   is walking twice a day essential?
Doctor :   If the repeat numbers did not reduce on repeat testing, then you should increase the medicine
Doctor :   Yes I would suggest twice a day for proper control, if you are suffering from pains or joint problems then you may
Doctor :   withhold the second time
User :   But finally how risky is my condition?
Doctor :   High cholesterol is a risk factor for development of heart disease
Doctor :   Hence recommended a close monitoring
Doctor :   If I have to say the risk in percentages, I would say 25 %
Doctor :   approximately
Doctor :   I hope you are not diabetic?
User :   no,
User :   nor do i smoke
User :   only was taking alcohol @90ml 5days a week
User :   that too i stopped for last 1 month
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   The recommended daily consumption is not more than 45ml / day
User :   in that case may i resume alcohol @45ml /day?
User :   There is no clock so i dont know when will my sssion end
User :   session
Doctor :   The clock started
Doctor :   I suggest to get Liver Function test also before you take alcohol
