Abdominal pains on lower side, burning sensation while urinating. Unable to get proper diagnosis. Any help ? - Online Doctor Chats
have a query. hope you will be able to help me diagnose the problem.
Surely I will try to help you.
i am trying to get some prescriptions in place
i assumed that it has something to do with Urine infection and sought doctor's advice.
he diagnosed it something related to female problem and prescribed me some medicines
Was a urine test done?
Tab Gemeal500 Tab Etoshine
i dont know what it is for?
Was a urine test done?
however, i took it and pain subsided
but since today morning i have a burning sensation on the right side of the abdomen.
yes Urine test was normal
i am not able to comprehend what it could be related to.
do i need to carry out some more tests
or is it just my assumption
Let me try to explain it in simpler terms.
but the burning sensation is really annoying
You are now having pain in the right lower abdomen or upper abdomen?
Are you with me?
Are you with me?
Are you there with me?
basically the pain is somewhere in the center
on the right side
and if i drink water it increases the burning sensation
its not the pain but the burning sensation
Let me explain. Abdomen as such is known as a Magic box. That is because of various organs put together in a single cavity.
So basically, if there is abdominal pain, to get a proper diagnosis, it is important to go for a detailed investigation.
Since your urine test came out normal, urine infection is ruled out.
The other possibility of lower abdominal burning and pain is pelvic inflammatory disease or PID in short.
I assume that your doctor would have diagnosed so.
But, if the pain is persisting, you need to go for further investigations.
he didn't use any such word but said it happens in females. now i don't know what happens in females
Since, you are complaining of a right central abdominal pain, you should get an ultrasonography of abdomen done.
what are the possible outcomes of USG
Or if there are any swellings or abnormalities with the ovaries.
is burning sensation also a possibility of a stone
but drinking water cannot create burning sensation to ovaries? or it does??
Yes, burning pain can be a possibility of stone in lower ureters.
No. Drinking water does not cause any increase in burning pain in ovaries.
but then tell me one thing Dr. XXXXXXX
Yes, please proceed.
my urine test was normal; should it not give any indication that something is wrong in the ureter
It may or may not show crystals or casts.
okay. my urine output is also not good
May I know an approximate amount of the urine passed per day?
on an average if i drink 5-6 glasses of water, my urine ouput is quite 2-4 times in an hour
now it is hardly 1 or XXXXXXX 2 times
You mean, 1-2 times in an hour?
one more thing doctor..
That is pretty normal.
no i don't find it normal because the output is quite high otherwise
another thing that i did not mention
Sure, please proceed.
since i assumed that it might be related to urine infection, before getting the urine test done i took Norflox without doctor's consultation. i mentioned this to the physician and i stopped it after he told me to do that
can the burning sensation be a side effect of this antibiotic
or that has no effect at all since urine test came out normal
How many doses of Norflox had you taken?
10 tablets for 5 days - morning and evening
Norflox does not usually cause any burning sensation.
In that case, the Norflox would have cleared the infections in the urinary tract, before the test was done.
If there was any infection.
so now what do you suggest finally
other than USG
should i do some more tests
Let me summarize.
First, You had burning sensation and pain in the lower abdomen, for which you had taken Norflox for 5 days.
And then you consulted a doctor and got the urine test done, which came out to be negative.
there wasn't any burning sensation earlier
only pain in lower abd
Now, you are having the burning pain and decrease in urine volume.
Burning in pain mainly in the right side of abdomen, near to the center.
The pain you had could be due to various reasons which has to be excluded by investigations and a proper examination.
so what is your suggestion
You should get it re-examined by a Doctor.
Also you need to get certain investigations done.
please let me know what investigations so that i can show the reports to doctor
You can go for an ultrasonography of the abdomen.
any other investigation?
should i go for USG empty stomach?
If you are not having any swelling of the legs, or there is no massive reduction in the urine output, then you do not need to do any kidney function test.
USG does not need an empty stomach.
no the swelling is not there.
But you need to drink at least 1 litre of water prior to going for the USG.
That will help in a better visualization during the examination.
one last question.. what do you anticipate this as..
With only the history, as I have not examined you, I would have a few diagnoses in my mind.
1. Ureteric Calculi
2. Pelvic inflammatory disease.
All these needs to be excluded.
Have I been able to clear your doubts?
yes to a large extent
Is there anything else I could assist you on?
You are Welcome.
thanks i will get back if required
Thank you for consulting me.
Hope I was helpful.
