User :   I am a 51 year old woman who has been having a little pain on my lower right side since May/ I have seen my gyno in June with a pap smear and pelvic exam and they said they felt nothing unusual. My house burned down in August and my husband has had heart problems recently so I have been having alot of stress lateley. I had some spotting between my periods last month then a very heavy period a few weeks later. the pain is sometimes burning and pulling. I have not gone through menopause yet. please help...could it be endometriosis? i have had a c section in the past/
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   Let me read your query.
User :   hi
Doctor :   Can you describe the pain?
Doctor :   Are they crampy in nature?
User :   no, like sometimes burning and sometimes pulling? once in a while sharp....nothing too bad
Doctor :   Are they related to the menstrual period that you have been having?
User :   it has actually gotten better since may,,,,i had lower back pain then
Doctor :   Ok
User :   they are but then when i dont have my period they are there once in a while
User :   my last period was nov 5th
Doctor :   Since when are you having this pain?
Doctor :   Do you have any loose stools, vomiting with the pain?
User :   since may of last year but like i said its much much better
User :   no
User :   no other symptoms
User :   i was just concerned about the spotting as i have never done that before
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Let me brief
Doctor :   you
User :   sometimes my periods are very heavy as AAAAAAA
User :   l
User :   I also have low thyroid and hashimotos
User :   i am on synthroid and lexapro for anxiety and around this time last night i was also very lax on taking my pills...
User :   i meant last month
Doctor :   Let me brief you.
User :   ok
Doctor :   This occur as the levels of hormones changes
User :   meaning what?
Doctor :   Menstrual cycles are regulated by oestrogen and progesterone hormones.
Doctor :   As one crosses 45, the levels of these starts reducing,
Doctor :   thus causing the irregularities.
User :   so why do you think this happened? my age or a combination of things
Doctor :   This is completely normal.
User :   thats what i thought......i still do believe i have endometriosis...i researched alot of the symptoms and seem to have alot of them
User :   you dont think i need to be concerned then?
User :   can pain be associated with perimenopause?
Doctor :   Crampy pains are associated with this.
User :   not the kind i describe?
User :   tonight i have been having burning pulling on the other side...
User :   not bad though just a little
Doctor :   Have you had such pains in the past?
User :   i had bad ones in may that made me go to the doctors but they have subsided alot but are there only occasionally but just burning and pulling
User :   sharp only once in a ovulation and before my period
User :   but for a few days at ovulation
Doctor :   Since, I am unable to perform a physical examination, I cannot pinpoint the exact cause for the pain.
User :   like i said i wasnt concerned with the pain as it is barely there but just the spotting
Doctor :   However, based on your description, this pulling pain may be due to present hormonal disturbance too.,
User :   really? that can cause pain?
Doctor :   I would however suggest you to consult a gynaecologist for pelvic examination.
User :   i just had one in june when it was worse..
User :   they felt nothing
User :   said i was definitely in perimenopause and my ovaries were shrinking
Doctor :   if no other cause such as infection is ruled out,
Doctor :   then the present disturbances are probably due to the perimenopausal condition
User :   have you heard of this before?
Doctor :   Yes,
Doctor :   this is a common event in a perimenopausal women.
User :   and the person was ok?
User :   so many changes for me lately...not sure how to deal with this menopause
Doctor :   The symptoms usually slowly settle down once you reach menopause,
Doctor :   few may however need hormonal replacement, if they find the symptoms are severe.
User :   so spotting can be a sign of perimenopause? and heavy periods? I guess my stress level lately hasnt helped things either.
Doctor :   Yes.
User :   ok....well thank you and i guess I feel better...
Doctor :   Spotting and irregular bleeds can be a sign of perimenapuase.
Doctor :   Do you have any other query?
User :   no i dont....thank you
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me.
Doctor :   Bye for now.
User :   bye
