She has been taking augmentin antibiotic for 3 days now. Started 2 weeks ago with difficulty breathing seemed to be getting better then temperature started. She does not sem dehydrated and no cough or shortness of breath. Can you help?
Doctor :   Hi,
User :   Hi there
Doctor :   yes, i will help you
Doctor :   I would ask you to assist the paracetamol with tepid sponging
Doctor :   also may i know the weight and the dosage of the paracetamol you were giving to the child ?
User :   My daughter is 2 stone 7lbs in weight and i am giving her 10mls of paracetemol and 5 mls of nurofen
Doctor :   ok, how many doses are you giving per day ?
User :   The recommended doses nurofe every 6 hours and paracetemol every 4 hours
Doctor :   ok, thats fine . Now you can do tepid sponging
Doctor :   Did she previously have cough along with the shortness of the breath ?
User :   Yes we have done the tepid sponging. Is it normal to have an ongoing temperature for 4 days whilst 3 days into antibiotic. Yes she did have a cough with the shortness of breath
Doctor :   yes, it can expected
Doctor :   its nothing serious
Doctor :   but i would ask you to also search for the infection foci
Doctor :   a detailed examination by her pediatrician will be a help there
Doctor :   fever of that range though not serious can occur when there is a active foci of infection
User :   Is the current antibiotc she is taking not helping? It is augmentin duo an amoxicilin based antibiotic
Doctor :   i do not think so , it needs the complete course of the antibiotic to get cleared about the antibiotic success
Doctor :   i am just being curious that whether there is any new infection other than the chest infection she had
User :   as it is the weekend i would have to take her to an emergency doctor and it is very expensive. would it be safe to wait until Monday as she appears to be well enough inspite of the temperature?
Doctor :   yes, no problem to wait till Monday
User :   one last sympton i forgot to mention she has a rash on her torso, seems to be a heat rash. I have pressed a glass against it seems to disappear
Doctor :   Are there rashes anywhere else in her body ?
User :   No just mainly the front of her torso onl appeared this evening
Doctor :   ok, do not worry it could be a simple erythema either due to temperature or even due to paracetamol
Doctor :   it will go off on its own
Doctor :   need no intervention
User :   Many thanks for your help
Doctor :   you are welcome
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me
