.There would be big problems if i did. he has smoke in frount of me and kids for 20 years

as a smoker i can understand why he might be upset at you if you asked that... on the other hand, i have lived in my house for 11 years and have only smoked about 5 ciggies in doors... out of RESPECT for my wife, and now 2 children, i smoke outside. (MY DECISION) if its raining i stand in the shed. i have an area for the butts, which i clear regularly and as far as i know i do not upset anyone with this habit. mind you my wife still moans about my 'cologne' when i go to bed. explain the situation to him and ask for a bit of compromise. he is only human after all, he might even respect you for asking. good luck.
