My gf says she has cervical cancer?

Her cervical cancer came back. By getting this type of cancer, does this mean she has been with a lot of guys? Or is this something that you can get passed down?

Re: My gf says she has cervical cancer?
HPV is the only KNOWN cause of low, moderate and high-grade dysplasia. There could be many, many others. HPV is an STD and there are hundreds of strands of it. HPV causes genital warts, abnormal cellular changes in the cervix or both. HPV can also be spread by blood transfusions, etc. HPV is known to cause abnormal cell changes in the cervix. Usually, a pap test can catch this early. It can be benign, low-grade, mild, high-grade and severe, or cancer. Usually, a cone biopsy, the LEEP procedure, or cryotherapy can treat the abnormal cells. If she already has cervical cancer, they may chose to do a partial, or full hysterectomy, inabling her from having children. However, if the woman smokes, has HIV, or has taken birth control for a long period of time, the cell changes can happen more quickly, or more often. There is no cure for HPV. Some vitamins, like Beta-mannan has shown that it may help keeping cells normal. HPV is not transmitted through birth (not genetic), however, if something else caused the abnormal cell changes that is genetic, it could be passed down from one generation to the next. Therefore, it is not certain why she has this type of cancer. If she has tested positive for HPV, then it is an STD and she likely got it from someone she slept with. However, if she slept with one guy who was a carrier, she could have gotton it then. If you have had unprotected sex with her, you could also get HPV and now you will be carrier. There is no test for HPV in males, nor is there a treatment. There are no symptoms in males and only 1 in 100,000 will get penal cancer from it. Now, if she has had a cone biopsy or the LEEP done to remove the abnormal cells, she is at an increased risk for stenosis, and an incompetent cervix. Stenosis is the narrowing of the cervical opening to the vagina (the one sperm swim up to get pregnant). This is caused by scar tissue around the opening from the procedure. An incompetent cervix causes late-term misscarriages (if pregnant). This is caused by the thinning of the cervix also due to the procedures. I would ask her if she has HPV (the STD), or not. I would also ask her how far along the cellular changes are. If she actually has severe dysplasia, or cancer, it is clearly a life-threatening stage.
