Male Orgasm

An orgasm (sexual climax) is the conclusion of the plateau phase of sexual response cycle, and may be experienced by both males and females. Orgasm is characterized by intense physical pleasure, controlled by the involuntary, or autonomic, nervous system. The major function of the male orgasm usually includes the ejaculation of sperm.

Achieving orgasm

  • In men, the most common way of achieving orgasm is by the stimulation of the penis
  • In men, sufficient stimulation can be achieved during vaginal or anal sexual intercourse, oral sex (fellatio), or by masturbation
  • In addition to physical stimulation, orgasm can be achieved from psychological arousal alone, such as during dreaming (which may be a nocturnal emission)

What Happens During the Male Orgasm?

  • Pelvic thrusts become less voluntary and other muscles of the body begin to contract rhythmically
  • Penile erection
  • Testicular elevation and size increase (Tumescence)
  • Cowper’s gland (pre-cum) secretions
  • Nipple erection
  • Heart rate, blood pressure and respiration all increase
  • Bladder sphincter closes tightly and the penile shaft propel semen outwards
  • Towards the end of orgasm, semen is usually ejaculated and may continue to be ejaculated for a few seconds after the euphoric sensation
  • But some men, who are incapable of ejaculation, are still capable of orgasm

Multiple orgasms

  • Most men’s sexuality is focused on the goal of ejaculating, rather than on the actual process of lovemaking.
  • Once a man becomes multi-orgasmic he will not only be able to better satisfy himself, but also more effectively satisfy his partner.
  • Multiple male orgasms include only orgasm but not ejaculation
  • Ejaculation initiates the refractory period in males
  • During this time, most men are unable to achieve another erection or even receive further stimulation due to the loss of sexual tension and the penis is usually too sensitive to touch
  • Since women are not to ejaculate, they do not have this annoying feature and are able to learn about and achieve multiple orgasms much easier than men

How to attain multiple orgasms

  • To understand that orgasm and ejaculation are distinct events
  • The ability to separate these events involves the pubococcygeal muscle, or pelvic floor muscle, this muscle for its ability to stop the flow of urine in mid-stream
  • Make yourself comfortable and then begin masturbating as you might normally
  • Stop just before you reach the point where you would ejaculate, Contract (squeeze) and hold your Pubococcygeus muscle for a count of ten
  • Allow yourself relax and take a few minutes break begin masturbating again, this time bringing yourself just a bit closer to the point of no return, again contracting pubococcygeus muscle
  • Speak to your partner and share your experiences in becoming a multi-orgasmic man
  • Breathing exercises and aerobic exercises will help in this
  • Multi orgasms also help in overcoming other sexual problems such as premature ejaculation

A number of studies have pointed to the hormone prolactin as the likely cause of male refractory period.

Because of this, there is currently an experimental interest in drugs which inhibit prolactin, such as cabergoline may be able to eliminate the refractory period altogether, allowing men to experience multiple ejaculatory orgasms in rapid succession.

Orgasm control

Also known as extended orgasm is a sexual technique involving an active partner taking control over a passive partner's orgasm.

The technique can be used by anybody regardless of sexual orientation.

Orgasm control is sometimes called "slow masturbation", but any method of stimulation (such as oral, sex toys or intercourse) can be used by the active partner, not just manual stimulation.

Orgasm control differs from the forced orgasms practices of orgasm denial, tie and tease and tease and denial

Drugs which enhancing the effect of orgasm

  • Nitrate inhalants
  • Butanediol
  • Cocaine
  • Amphetamine
  • LSD
  • Sildenafil

Orgasmic dysfunction

The inability to have orgasm is called anorgasmia, ejaculatory anhedonia, or inorgasmia.

If a male experiences erection and ejaculation but no orgasm, he is said to have sexual anhedonia.
