ACF is rare disorder characterized by presence of heart defects and abnormalities of lower lip muscle. It is also known as Cayler syndrome.

 

ACF is also known as asymmetric crying facies, Cayler cardio facial syndrome, facial paresis partial unilateral, partial unilateral facial paralysis. It is extremely rare disorder characterized by congenital heart defects and under development or absence of one or more muscle which control the lower lip. It is congenital disorder present at birth.

Signs and symptoms

  • Cardiac defect
  • Vertebral anomalies
  • Renal anomalies
  • Limb anomalies
  • Asymmetry of the face
  • Ventricular septal defect
  • Atrial septal defect
  • Tetrology of Fallot
  • Small head
  • Small eyes
  • Small jaw bone
  • Mental retardation
  • Absence or underdevelopment of muscle which control the lower lip
  • Congenital heart defects
  • Patent ductus arteriosus
  • Asymmetry of face while crying

Complications

  • Ventricular septal defect
  • Microcephaly
  • Facies abnormalities
